Richard read Law at the University of Nottingham where he gained a 2:1, and attended Bar School at Nottingham Law School, winning that year’s Advocacy prize.
He was called to the Bar in 1998, commencing pupillage in 1999, and remaining at the same Chambers until 2007. He is a Founding Member of Derwent Chambers.
Richard has a General Common Law experience, with an emphasis on Family work, including: Public and Private Law Children Act, and Adoption cases in particular; plus Injunctions; and Ancillary Relief. He has acted for parents, grandparents, children and local authorities, appearing in Magistrates’ Courts, County Courts and the High Court throughout the Midlands and further afield.
Richard has dealt with Disclosure matters on behalf of local authorities and the Police.
He also undertakes Civil Work, including Small Claims, Fast Track, Multi Track, plus Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act cases. He has also dealt with matters under the Mental Health Act, and has represented interested parties at Inquests.
